FIND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE IN 10 STEPS – PART 1: DISCOVER WHAT YOU TRULY LOVE
25/11/2025
If you want a style that feels authentic and aligned with who you are, not just something that comes from fast moving trends, then this guide is for you. Creating your personal style is not about copying others. It is about understanding yourself.
This first part lays the foundation for everything that follows. Think of it as the moment you slow down, observe yourself and learn what you naturally gravitate toward.
IDENTIFY WHAT YOU LOVE

Before you can build a wardrobe that truly works for you, you need clarity about your aesthetic preferences. Many people skip this step and jump straight into buying clothes. That often leads to a closet full of beautiful pieces that somehow never get worn.
By taking the time to explore what draws your attention, you begin shaping a style that feels stable, enjoyable and true.
CREATE A MOOD BOARD
A mood board is the easiest way to get a clear visual overview of your taste. Go on Pinterest or Instagram and start saving everything that speaks to you.

Save anything that feels like you:
- Outfits
- Colors and tones
- Textures and materials
- Hairstyles
- Accessories
Entire atmospheres such as editorial shots or lifestyle pictures. Do not judge your choices. Do not censor yourself. Just collect. The goal is to gather raw data about your preferences.
LOOK FOR PATTERNS

Once you have enough images, start observing them with curiosity. This is where you begin to see structure.
Look for repeating elements:
- Do you prefer neutral or bold colors
- Structured or soft silhouettes
- Elegant, minimal, romantic, vintage or modern aesthetics
- Light and airy fabrics or heavier materials
- Clean tailoring or relaxed comfort
Patterns will appear naturally. You might notice that you save the same shapes or color palettes without even realizing it. These consistencies are the core of your personal style.
TAKE DAILY OUTFIT PHOTOS

This step grounds your inspiration in reality. Take a picture of your outfit every day for two or three weeks. After some time, review the images and ask yourself:
- What outfits made me feel confident
- What pieces do I wear again and again
- Which items stay untouched
- What feels natural and what feels forced
Your real life wardrobe often reveals different preferences than your inspiration board. When both worlds overlap, you have found your true style direction.
