We recently attended the launch event celebrating the collaboration between Jacques Agbobly and G-Star, and it felt like more than a fashion presentation - it was a cultural statement.

Agbobly is the eponymous label founded in 2020 by Togolese-American designer Jacques Agbobly. His work centers Black, queer, and immigrant narratives, transforming lived experience into vibrant, handcrafted fashion. By blending West African traditions with modern silhouettes, he challenges conventional fashion structures and elevates storytelling through innovative textile techniques. Texture, color, and knitwear play a significant role in his visual language, every piece carries intention.
This collaboration with G-Star RAW created a compelling dialogue between narrative-driven design and the brand’s strong denim heritage.

One of the key highlights of the evening was a reimagined denim pant. We were drawn to its sharply structured silhouette, defined by precise seam placements and refined detailing. The piece merged G-Star’s utilitarian craftsmanship with Agbobly’s expressive identity — architectural, intentional, and confidently wearable.

The launch itself was thoughtfully curated. The space carried an industrial undertone aligned with G-Star’s aesthetic, contrasted by vibrant elements reflecting Agbobly’s creative world.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed curated food and drinks, which contributed to a relaxed but elevated atmosphere. It felt immersive rather than transactional.
A special highlight of the night was the DJ set by Myles Loftin, who headlined the event. His energetic mix seamlessly connected fashion and music, shaping the rhythm of the evening and amplifying the atmosphere in the room. As the night progressed, the presentation evolved into a dynamic social gathering, bringing together creatives, industry insiders, and cultural voices.
Overall, we experienced the launch as a celebration of identity, craftsmanship, and collaboration, a reminder that fashion, at its best, is a form of storytelling.
